About the event
Fragile Nature is a complex interplay of sensory experiences, emotions, cultural influences, and personal connections. The natural world acts as a canvas upon which our memories are painted, creating a rich tapestry of experiences that are deeply intertwined with the beauty and diversity of plants and flowers. Â The journey of memories through botanicals is a collection of botanical casts creating a captivating and meaningful experience that bridges the gap between nature, creativity, and personal recollections.
The collection of work has taken 12 months to create. Working alongside the Friends of Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens, the collection of casts narrates the stories of The Old Parsonage Gardens. Â Capturing the memories and seasonal changes of a much-loved historical place. Â Part of the exhibition also features a botanical remembrance wall which holds a series of casts, each in tribute to special memories of loved ones for all the families that Janet has supported and created work for over the last 12 months.
The exhibition launches in Gallery 2 on Sunday 1st October 2023 and will run until Sunday 29th October 2023. Â The Old Parsonage is open 7 days a week, Â every Sunday between 12pm - 5pm will be 'Meet the Artist' sessions with Janet Howkins from Step in the Picture, where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the project and the work exhibited. Â If you wish to visit the exhibition Mon- Sat, please call 0161 4457 661 to check availability for viewing as during these times the Gallery can be hired out for private use.
